Board Election Postponed

At the meeting of the Cambridge Retirement Board held on, April 13, 2020, it was voted to postpone the next election for a seat on the Retirement Board.  The term for the seat currently held by John Shinkwin is due to expire on, July 31, 2020.  After consulting with PERAC, our regulatory agency, it was voted that the election should be postponed in the interests of safety.  Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, PERAC advised that it would not be appropriate to encourage candidates to gather signatures and campaign for an election.  Pursuant to state law, Mr. Shinkwin will continue to serve as an elected member until such time as an election can be held.  The Cambridge Retirement Board will continue to monitor the situation and make a determination as to when an election may be safely conducted.
